Set up an Android wall panel
Turn your own Android tablet or touch display into a dedicated Denframe wall panel with the experimental panel app.
Experimental: A week of running on a real panel through power cuts and restarts, and tests of first start, factory reset and how the panel's browser engine gets updates. See what is still in testing.
A wall panel that starts Denframe on its own, shows your dashboard all day, and opens it again after a restart.
- An Android 11 or later tablet or touch display with Android System WebView 110 or newer.
- A dedicated device with no personal accounts or screen lock: a test display, not a primary phone or tablet.
- Power where it hangs: a panel shows its dashboard all day, so keep it on its charger or a wall supply.
- LAN receiver access is on, so screens can load dashboards from Denframe: see Install on macOS or Windows. Screens reach a desktop install on port 8001 (one above its management port, 8000), and a Home Assistant install on port 8098.
Follow these steps in your own Denframe. This website never connects to your household, your accounts or your devices, and never asks for your credentials.

Install it on the panel
Download the APK on the panel, open it, and allow installation from that browser or file app when Android asks. Turn the permission off again when it finishes.
Android cannot update an app signed with a different key. If a development build is installed, uninstall
com.denframe.panelfirst; that clears the panel’s pairing and data.Make it a kiosk (optional)
For a true kiosk, make Denframe the device owner: it then locks the device to Denframe and restores it after a reboot. Do this before adding any account; device-owner setup fails once one exists, and only on a device you can factory-reset. Without it, choose Denframe as the Home app in Android settings.
With USB debugging on and Android’s platform tools adb shell dpm set-device-owner com.denframe.panel/.PanelDeviceAdminReceiverConnect it to your Denframe host
Open Denframe Display. If the panel is not on a network yet, Connect this display joins Wi-Fi. Under Connect to your Denframe host, enter the host’s network address and screen port (for example
192.168.1.10:8001for a desktop install, or port 8098 on Home Assistant), or choose the host if it is listed below, and choose Connect. The panel opens on Add this display: choose Pair this display, and it shows a pairing code.Pair it in Denframe
On your computer, open Studio, then Access, choose Add a device, then A Denframe wall display. Type The code on the display, type a Name or pick one under Or name it by its room, say How is it mounted? and Whose view does it show?.
Choose Next: lock its settings, set a Settings PIN of 6 to 12 digits (it guards the panel’s own menu), type it again, and choose Pair the display.
Design for its shape
In the editor, Preview on lists the panel at its real shape, landscape or portrait, so you can check a dashboard reads at that size. Then cast a dashboard to it from Home. Quiet hours can dim the panel or, as device owner, turn its screen off; whether a touch wakes it depends on its firmware.
Check it worked
The panel shows its dashboard and is listed on Access under the name you gave it. Restart the panel: as device owner, or as the Home app, it opens Denframe again by itself.
If it doesn’t work
“Display software outdated”
Update Android System WebView to version 110 or newer from the device’s app store or settings.
The panel cannot reach the host
Enter the host’s address with its screen port (8001 for a desktop install, 8098 on Home Assistant), check LAN receiver access is on, and that the panel is on the same network as Denframe.
Device-owner setup fails
Android refuses it once an account exists on the device. Factory-reset it and set Denframe as owner before adding any account.
The update will not install
The installed build is signed with another key. Uninstall com.denframe.panel first; pairing must be done again.
