See when to leave and the next departures

Keep a list of routes: a drive with the time to leave, or a bus or train timetable you keep yourself.

You’ll have

A Transport block saying when to leave for each drive, and the next departure on each timetable, with any disruption.

You’ll need

Follow these steps in your own Denframe. This website never connects to your household, your accounts or your devices, and never asks for your credentials.

  1. Open the Transport page

In Studio, open Sources, then Transport, and choose Add a route list. Under Route type, choose one for the first route:

    • Commute: the drive time to a place, and when to leave to arrive on time.
    • Transit: a timetable you keep, like the printed one on the fridge.

Denframe doesn’t read live transit feeds: every agency publishes its own, so a transit route is a weekly timetable you enter. A commute’s drive time comes from OSRM’s free public route planner for cars, which is best effort with no guarantee and no live traffic.

  2. Set up a commute

For Commute, search for the start under From and the destination under To, and choose each result. Enter Arrive by. Advanced · coordinates holds the latitudes and longitudes, for a place the search doesn’t find.

Denframe sends the two places’ coordinates to the route planner. Screens get the route’s labels, times, time zone, drive minutes and disruption, never the coordinates or an address.

  3. Or enter a timetable

For Transit, under Weekly departures, choose a weekday and a time for each departure. + Add departure adds another, up to 50 a route; tick Cancelled for a trip that won’t run.

  4. Add it to dashboards

Tick the dashboards under Show on and choose Add route list. The list starts with this one route and is named Transport; rename it and add more routes on its page.

  5. Name routes and add more

On the route list’s page, each route is a row that opens its sheet. + Add route adds another, up to six. A route’s sheet holds everything, with Save:

    • Label and Time zone (this device’s zone at first; choosing a From place sets it to that place’s zone, so check it after changing the start).
    • For a commute: Destination label, and Baseline minutes, the usual drive. A drive more than 30% longer than the baseline shows as a disruption.
    • For a timetable: Disruption note (optional), which shows on the screen until you clear it.
    • Only show during certain hours: outside them, the route stays off the screen.
  6. Check it worked

The block shows each commute as its destination with “Leave by” and the drive time, and each timetable with its next departure time, skipping cancelled trips. The next departure can be on a later day, which the block doesn’t say; with none in the coming eight days, the route shows as unavailable. A timetable’s disruption shows its note; a slow commute shows “Disruption reported”. Routes refresh every 15 minutes.

If it doesn’t work

The place search finds nothing, or is unavailable

Enter the coordinates under Advanced · coordinates.

A commute shows no drive time, or an old one

The public route planner is best effort and may be slow or down. Denframe tries again at the next refresh.

Departures are an hour out

Check the route’s Time zone on its sheet.

A route disappears at times

It has hours set under Only show during certain hours.

A route can’t be opened

It was made by a newer Denframe. It is kept as it is and can be removed, unless it is the list’s only route.
