Let Denframe know what a Samsung TV is showing
Tell Denframe, through Home Assistant, which input or app on a Samsung TV is Denframe, so it knows when the TV shows something else and can pause that screen's dashboard until you return.
Experimental: Evidence from more Samsung model years than the one set tested so far. See what is still in testing.
A Samsung TV whose input and app Denframe reads, telling Denframe's own picture apart from everything else the TV shows.
- Denframe connected to Home Assistant; see Home Assistant values.
- The TV in Home Assistant through its Samsung Smart TV integration, and a Chromecast or built-in Cast on the TV that Denframe already lists as a screen.
Follow these steps in your own Denframe. This website never connects to your household, your accounts or your devices, and never asks for your credentials.
Know what it does
The bridge only watches. It reads the TV's power, input and app from Home Assistant, and when the TV is off or shows another input or app it can pause Denframe's own dashboard on that screen, resuming it when Denframe is back. It never turns the TV on or off, changes its input, sends remote keys or controls Art Mode.
No Samsung model is confirmed yet: the bridge has been tried on one set. Pausing needs a live display session, which casting through the compatibility receiver doesn't have yet, so today the bridge reads the TV but pauses nothing; see Chromecast, Google TV and Nest Hub. Treat it as a test, and tell us how yours behaves.
Open the TV bridge
In Studio, open Sources, then the Home page. From its ⋯ menu choose TV bridge (experimental)….
Match the TV to its screen
Choose the Samsung TV entity from Home Assistant and the Denframe Cast screen it holds. Fill in Samsung model and Model year, and choose the Cast path: an external Chromecast or the TV's built-in Cast.
Under Denframe-active TV sources or Denframe-active TV apps, type the input or app the TV reports while it shows Denframe, exactly as Home Assistant names it, for example
HDMI 2. At least one is needed.Explicit Art Mode entity (optional) names a Home Assistant entity that reports Art Mode, if yours has one: it is only watched.
Choose Add read-only bridge, then Save Samsung bridges.
See what your TV reports
Open TV bridge (experimental)… again and choose Probe capability matrix. It reads the TV's state from Home Assistant once and shows what it could observe: power, input, app and, if you named one, the Art Mode entity. A value it cannot read shows as unavailable, and the bridge then does nothing rather than guess.
Check it worked
With the TV on Denframe's input, Probe capability matrix reads its activity as Denframe; switch the TV to another input, probe again, and it reads as something else. That is what the bridge pauses on once the screen has a live session.
If it doesn’t work
The probe never reads Denframe's input
Compare the input or app Home Assistant reports for the TV with what you typed: it must match exactly. Probe capability matrix shows what Denframe reads.
The dashboard doesn't pause
Casting through the compatibility receiver has no live session to pause yet; the bridge can only read the TV until it does.
It never resumes
The bridge resumes only a dashboard it paused itself, and only when the TV reports an input or app you listed.
