Show Denframe in a TV’s web browser

Pair a TV or tablet browser as a Denframe display: the full dashboard with live updates, on a screen without Google Cast.

You’ll have

The TV’s browser showing your dashboard full screen, paired to Denframe and updating live.

You’ll need
  • LAN receiver access is on, so screens can load dashboards from Denframe: see Install on macOS or Windows. Screens reach a desktop install on port 8001 (one above its management port, 8000), and a Home Assistant install on port 8098.
  • A TV or tablet with a modern web browser, on the same home network.
  • An owner sign-in to Denframe, to approve the pairing.

Follow these steps in your own Denframe. This website never connects to your household, your accounts or your devices, and never asks for your credentials.

  1. Open Denframe’s display page on the TV

In the TV’s browser, open the Denframe computer’s network address with the screen port, followed by /panel: for example http://192.168.1.10:8001/panel for a desktop install, or port 8098 on Home Assistant. The management address (port 8000 on a desktop) only works on that computer.

The page says Add this display. Choose Pair this display: it shows a six-digit code that lasts 5 minutes.

  2. Approve the code in Denframe

On your computer, open Studio, then Access, and choose Add a device. Under Who is this device for?, choose A Denframe wall display, then Continue.

Type the code into The code on the display, give it a Name, and say How is it mounted?. Choose Next: lock its settings, set a Settings PIN of 6 to 12 digits for its on-screen menu, type it again under The same PIN again, then choose Pair the display.

  3. Send it a dashboard

Pairing connects the screen; it does not choose a dashboard. On Home, cast a dashboard to the paired display the way you would to a Chromecast (see Cast a dashboard). Until then the browser waits for one.

  4. Go full screen

Move the pointer or press a key on the remote to reveal Fullscreen, and select it on the TV itself. The controls fade after a few seconds, or at once with Hide controls; the pointer or a key brings them back. If the browser refuses, use its own display options; a browser may need you to select it again after it wakes.

  5. Know what a TV without Cast can do

Network TV support (DIAL and UPnP) and browser full-screen control were tested in a development build on 10 September 2026; that does not mean every desktop installer includes them. Check Downloads before choosing a build. Discovery and UPnP playback are each off by default.

DIAL (Discovery And Launch) finds a TV and launches its apps, but does not carry a dashboard. Denframe cannot launch its page through DIAL, install a TV app or control Samsung Art Mode: open the browser yourself.

Some TVs also offer a UPnP media renderer, which plays single photos and videos. In a build with network TV support, set DENFRAME_NETWORK_DISCOVERY=true on the host to find them, and DENFRAME_UPNP_PLAYBACK=true to allow playback, then restart. Use the discovered TV’s media controls to choose or upload a file and play it: this can switch the TV away from its current source, playback depends on the format, and it never shows a dashboard. When another source takes over, Denframe releases the TV; Stop revokes the session’s media access, though a TV may keep content it already buffered. Play a video or photo on a screen covers playing one.

Tested on Samsung The Frame 43 (QE43LS03BAUXXH, software T-PTMDEUC-1720.7) on 10 September 2026: the paired browser showed a clock, a picture dashboard and live updates full screen, and recovered after Wi-Fi and host restarts and a standby cycle. Through UPnP it played PNG and JPEG images and a silent H.264 MP4 with pause, resume and stop; seeking was refused. Automatic full screen after waking and overnight running are unverified.

  6. Check it worked

The browser shows your dashboard edge to edge, and the display is listed on Access under its name. Change the dashboard in Denframe and the TV follows within moments.

If it doesn’t work

The browser says Ready for a dashboard

Pairing does not choose a dashboard. Choose the paired display on Home and cast a saved dashboard to it.

The browser toolbar is still visible

Select Fullscreen on the TV itself. Commands from Denframe cannot bypass the browser’s own rule.

The page does not load on the TV

Check the address and port, that LAN receiver access is on, and that the TV is on the same network as Denframe.

Playing media reports an error, or a control is refused

A format the TV advertises or a request it accepts doesn’t guarantee visible playback. Check what the TV shows. Denframe only checks a failed play by reading the TV’s state; it never retries to reclaim the screen. Try a supported file, or use the paired browser for dashboards.

The code was lost

Reloading Add a device forgets the code and the PIN: choose Back to the code and type the code the screen shows now. If the code has expired, choose Cancel on the display and Pair this display again.
