Remove, re-pair or replace a screen

Find a screen, sign one out, pair a wall display again, or swap a broken panel for a new one without rebuilding your dashboards.

You’ll have

Only the screens you want listed in Denframe, each showing the dashboards meant for it.

You’ll need
  • An owner account in Denframe.
  • For a wall display or Apple TV, the device in front of you, so you can read the code it shows.

Follow these steps in your own Denframe. This website never connects to your household, your accounts or your devices, and never asks for your credentials.

  1. Know which screens are paired

Chromecasts, Google TVs, Nest Hubs and speakers are not paired: Denframe finds them on your network. There is nothing to remove; one you switch off or take off the network shows as Offline on Home, and is gone after Denframe next restarts.

Wall displays, Apple TVs and shared tablets are paired once, each with its own sign-in. Those are the ones you manage here.

  2. Find the screen

In Studio, open Access. Wall displays & shared tablets lists every paired display and tablet with whether it is online.

Choose Identify to show a display's name on its own screen, or Open screen page for its settings.

  3. Sign a screen out

On a display's screen page, under Unpair, choose one:

    • Remove signs it out here: it loses access at once and goes back to Setup when it next connects. Confirm with Remove display.
    • Return to Setup clears it for a new household: it forgets this one and shows a new code, so it must be paired again.

A shared tablet has Sign out in the same Access list; a family phone has Sign out in its ⋯ menu under Family.

  4. Pair a display again

When a display is back at Setup it shows a six-digit code. In Access, choose Pair a display, type the code, and give it a name.

On an Android panel you can also start over from the panel itself: its settings menu (behind its settings PIN) has Factory reset, which clears the panel's own pairing. Remove the old entry in Denframe as well, since a reset panel's old sign-in stays listed there until you do. See Set up an Android wall panel.

  5. Replace a broken display

Remove the old display, then pair the new one. The new one starts with default settings: on its screen page set Resolution, How it is mounted and Whose view it shows, and in Calibrate the room set its privacy, Kid mode, touch and overnight window again.

Dashboards don't belong to a screen, so they are all still there. Schedules in Display automation, rules in Context rules and screen groups still name the old display: choose the new one in each.

  6. Check it worked

Wall displays & shared tablets lists only the displays you kept, each online. Cast a dashboard to the new display from Home: it shows within a few seconds.

If it doesn’t work

A Chromecast you unplugged still shows

It shows as Offline until Denframe next restarts. Nothing needs removing.

The display shows no code after Remove

It returns to Setup when it next connects to Denframe. Restart it, or on an Android panel use Factory reset from its settings menu.

The code is refused

Codes change every few minutes; type the one the display shows now.
