Remove a source or disconnect an account

Take a calendar, task list, weather location, headlines or a watchlist off your dashboards and out of Denframe, and when it signed in to Google or Microsoft, take Denframe's access away in that account too.

You’ll have

The source gone from Denframe and from the dashboards that showed it, and Denframe no longer listed in the Google or Microsoft account it read.

You’ll need
  • An owner sign-in to Denframe.
  • For Google or Microsoft, a sign-in to that account in a web browser, by whoever connected it.

Follow these steps in your own Denframe. This website never connects to your household, your accounts or your devices, and never asks for your credentials.

  1. Take it off dashboards first (optional)

On the source's page or card, Showing on lists each dashboard that shows it. Each one's menu offers Remove from, followed by the dashboard's name: it takes the block that reads only this source off that dashboard.

If you skip this, removing the source leaves those blocks in place with nothing to show, until you give them another source or remove them in the editor.

To stop a source for a while instead, choose Pause in the ⋯ menu on its own page; Resume starts it again. A task list's account rows have only Disconnect.

  2. Remove a calendar

In Studio, open Sources, then Calendar, and open the ⋯ menu on the calendar's card:

    • A Google or Microsoft calendar has Disconnect…. Confirm with Disconnect: Denframe deletes the sign-in it kept for that calendar and erases the events it had copied.
    • A calendar link or file has Remove…. Confirm with Remove.

The calendar itself is unchanged: Denframe only ever read it.

  3. Disconnect a task list

In Studio, open Sources, then Tasks. Under Microsoft To Do, Google Tasks or Home Assistant to-do, open the account's menu, choose Disconnect and confirm. Its lists leave every wall and Denframe forgets whose each list was; the lists themselves stay in the account.

Disconnecting a task list leaves a calendar from the same account working, and the other way round.

Tasks kept in Denframe's own list are removed one at a time, with Remove in each task's ⋯ menu.

  4. Remove a weather location, headlines or a watchlist

In Studio, open Sources, then Weather, Headlines or Markets, and open the location, the headlines or the watchlist. In the ⋯ menu beside its name, choose Remove… and confirm with Remove.

    • Weather and currency rates need no account, so there is nothing else to take away.
    • A stocks watchlist's Finnhub key is deleted from Denframe with it.
    • A topic's news search key is kept apart from the headlines: removing every topic leaves it saved, and Manage keys on the Headlines page only replaces it. To stop it working, delete the key in your Tavily or Brave Search account.
  5. Remove the Google or Microsoft sign-in from Denframe

Once no calendar or task list signs in through it, the app you registered can leave Denframe too. In Studio, open Access. Under Calendar sign-in, open the Google or Microsoft row's menu, choose Remove and confirm. Members can then no longer connect that company's calendars until an owner sets it up again.

Denframe refuses while a calendar or task list still uses it, and names them: disconnect those first. A sign-in set up on the server itself has no menu; only whoever runs that Denframe can remove it.

  6. Take Denframe's access away in the account

Disconnecting in Denframe deletes the sign-in Denframe kept, but the account still lists your app until you remove it there. It is listed under the name you gave it when you registered it. Each person who connected a calendar or task list does this in their own account:

To end every sign-in through your app at once, delete the client you created in Google Cloud Console (opens in a new tab) or Microsoft Entra (opens in a new tab). Connecting a calendar again afterwards needs a new client, set up as in Put the family calendar on the wall.

  7. Check it worked

The source is gone from its page in Sources, the blocks that showed it are gone from your dashboards (or, if you kept them, show nothing), and the Google or Microsoft account no longer lists your app.

If it doesn’t work

Remove under Calendar sign-in is refused

A calendar or task list still signs in through it; the message names them. Disconnect those first.

A dashboard shows an empty block

It read the source you removed. Choose another source for the block, or remove the block in the editor.

The app is not listed in the Google or Microsoft account

Look under the name you gave it when you registered it, and in the account of whoever connected that calendar or list.

You want a source back

Add it again as you first did. A Google or Microsoft calendar signs in again and reads its events afresh; see Put the family calendar on the wall.
